Some pests carry diseases or parasites, others venomous bites so let’s look into the common pests around your home that you should help prevent your pets from being in contact with.

Mosquitoes

Other than the obvious annoyance of itches and irritation, it is the more serious issue of spreading bacteria and parasites when your pet is bitten by a Mosquito. The worst parasite that can be passed to your animals is heartworms.

If mosquitoes are hanging around, check for standing water as this will attract them to your yard.

Venomous Spiders

No one wants to be bitten by a poisonous spider and the fact that your animal is alot smaller than you means they will suffer and be in worse danger when bitten. Some venomous Australian spiders can cause inflammation, pain and even neuromuscular damage.

If you are noticing more spiders around your home, it is important for both yourself and your pets to call the team at CDI Pest Management to control the infestation as soon as possible.

Cockroaches

Cockroaches love pet food and if left out, they will crawl all over it, this will unfortunately leave behind bacteria and other viral diseases. So to keep your pets safer, pop their food bowls away after feeding and make sure you don’t leave their food out.

Ants

One ant isn’t a problem, but an ant problem in your home means many ants. Ants will get into your pet’s food and can bite their face. They can cause pain, inflammation and itchiness. Help your pet steer clear of any group of ants outside and get the team at CDI Pest Management to get your home ant free.

Mice & Rats

The most obvious risk of rodents is the diseases they carry like roundworms. These can be passed to your pet if they ingest a rodent they have caught. There is a smaller risk of bait poisoning - where your pet has ingested the bait or a rodent that has died from bait poison.
